Our story

We started with a simple question nobody seemed to be asking.

You wash your hands before eating. You rinse your glass before using it. You run your kitchen knives through the dishwasher after every meal. But twice a day — every single day — you put something in your mouth that has been sitting exposed in one of the most bacteria-dense rooms in your home.

Nobody talks about it. Nobody questions it. It's just what people do.

Lumvara started because we decided to question it.

Where It Began

The idea for Lumvara came after a particularly bad winter. One child got a cold. Within four days, every single person in the household had it. It was the kind of week that makes you step back and ask: how does this keep happening?

The answer, after some research, was uncomfortable: the toothbrush holder. The shared bathroom counter. The damp bristles pressed together in a cup, exchanging bacteria every night while the family slept. The same holder that looked perfectly ordinary was quietly acting as a transmission hub for every illness that walked through the door.

It wasn't a lack of care. It was a lack of awareness — and the right tool to do something about it.

The Technology

UV-C light has been used in hospitals, dental practices, and medical-grade sterilization equipment for decades. At a wavelength of 253.7 nm, it disrupts the DNA of bacteria, viruses, and mould at a cellular level — rendering them unable to reproduce and harmless within minutes. The same technology that keeps operating theatres clean can keep your toothbrush clean.

We built the Lumvara Pro around this principle: doctor-level hygiene, designed for everyday life at home. A 5-minute cycle. A sealed UV chamber. A device that looks like it belongs on a luxury bathroom shelf — not a hospital cabinet.

Who We Built This For

We built Lumvara for the parent who is exhausted from watching illness spread through their household like clockwork. For the frequent traveller who has learned never to trust a hotel bathroom counter. For the person who replaced their toothbrush every three weeks because it never felt quite clean.

For the healthcare professional who recommends proper sterilization to every patient, and wonders why the same logic isn't applied at home. For the person who has spent time and money creating a beautiful, intentional living space — and refuses to let a plastic toothbrush holder ruin the aesthetic.

For anyone who has ever thought: we clean everything else. Why not this?

What We Believe

Hygiene is not paranoia. It is precision. The small habits done consistently — the ones most people overlook because they seem too ordinary to matter — are often the ones that matter most.

We are a small team, obsessed with two things: the science of oral hygiene and the design of objects that belong in a well-considered home. Every detail of the Lumvara Pro — from the matte colour palette to the silent overnight cycle — was built with both in mind.

We are just getting started. But the mission is clear: make doctor-level hygiene the default, not the exception.
